Our ever-popular Live Translation events see two translators going head to head with their versions of a text, with the author present, bringing to light the nuances and variations and the very inner workings of the translation process. In an exchange chaired by Daniel Hahn, Director of the British Centre for Literary Translation, award-winning translators Shaun Whiteside and Mike Mitchell put forward their versions of an extract from Daniel Kehlmann’s as yet untranslated first novel Beerhohms Vorstellung.
