One of South Korea’s leading fiction writers, Kim Young-ha’s novels are remarkable for their profligate crossing of boundaries, mixing high and low cultural sources into dazzling post-modern narratives. He is also an accomplished translator from English into Korean, and has recently produced a Korean version of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. Kim will be in conversation with leading translator Daniel Hahn about his novels, their translation into other languages and their adaptation into film. He’ll also be talking about his literary influences, and how his writing reflects the literary traditions, history and culture of South Korea.
