To continue the London Review Bookshop's series of screenings in our new basement cinema, we have invited three contributors to the London Review of Books to choose a literary adaptation. The writers will introduce their choice and lead discussion over a glass of wine after the screening.

The series continues with John Mullan, who will present A Cock and Bull Story (dir. Michael Winterbottom). Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon play two actors attempting to shoot an adaptation of Laurence Sterne's essentially unfilmable novel, The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman.

John Mullan is a professor of English literature at University College, London. His most recent book is What Matters in Jane Austen? (Bloomsbury, 2012).  The evening will be hosted by Gareth Evans, Curator of Film at the Whitechapel Gallery.
