Marking 30 years since the death of Bruce Chatwin, we're delighted to welcome his first editor (and co-founder of the LRB), the author of With Chatwin, Observer Theatre Critic Susannah Clapp to share her memories of the remarkable author who reinvigorated travel writing in English. She will be in conversation after Andrew Grieve's acclaimed adaptation of Chatwin's second novel, a deeply grounded meditation on place, family and 20th century history, starring the late, great Bob Peck.
A remarkably moving and entertaining film, offering a fascinating view of life in the border country between Wales and England. It follows the Jones family from 1895 – 1980, but mainly centers around twin brothers Benjamin and Lewis Jones (played by brothers Mike and Robert Gwilym). It is through their inseparability, and the traumas and humor that inspires, that the story is told. - Variety
