Argentinian writer Samanta Schweblin’s fictions, both in short and long form (A Mouthful of Birds; Fever Dream) are consistently unsettling in the way they mix the familiar and the surreal, conveying an off-centre perspective on the world we think we know. Her latest novel Little Eyes (One World, translated by Megan McDowell) explores issues of surveillance, voyeurism and connectivity through the medium of the Kentuki, an apparently benign amalgam of toy, mobile phone, camera and robot that is taking the world by storm, but which has, it transpires, increasingly sinister implications.

Schweblin will be in conversation about her work with Chris Power, author of the short story collection Mothers.
