Internationally acclaimed writer, performer and artist Patti Smith needs no introduction. Renowned globally since the 1970's for her visionary creativity and commitment across multiple media, she won the US National Book Award in December 2010 for Just Kids (Bloomsbury), her remarkable memoir of life, love and loss in the extraordinary creative ferment of Seventies New York. Smith has long been informed in her own poetry and prose writing by the great tradition of ‘outsider’ literature, and is known for the intensity and richness of her readings. This reading, which set extracts from her extensive body of work alongside those writers she has long loved and advocated, was no exception. This event was programmed in association with Artevents.
