Author of the Month: Nawal El Saadawi

Our Author of the Month for February is the Egyptian feminist, novelist, essayist, physician, psychiatrist and activist Nawal El Saadawi. Throughout her life, much of it spent in enforced exile and some of it in prison, she has been a fierce and eloquent defender of women’s rights, both globally and in particular in the Islamic world. Now in her 88th year, she remains as fierce and eloquent as ever. You can explore her books on our booklist here, and come and browse them in person at the shop throughout February.
