News from Nowhere and Other Writings

Morris’s romantic socialism receives its fullest imaginative expression in this fable. A Victorian socialist named William Guest awakes to find himself in 2102, with the world around him transformed from the industrial squalor of the late 19th century into a pastoral paradise where people live in peace, harmony and perfect equality. As well as the full text of Morris’s masterpiece, this edition reprints several essays, fables and occasional writings dealing with similar themes, including an introduction Morris wrote for the 1893 Kelmscott Press edition of More’s Utopia.
