Author of the Month: Cixin Liu

Selected by the Bookshop

Our Author of the Month for March, Cixin Liu, was born in 1963 in Beijing. His debut novel, China 2185, earned him the soubriquet of the first Chinese cyberpunk writer, but it was 2007’s The Three-Body Problem which established his reputation in the West. The first part of the ‘Remembrance of Earth’s Past’ trilogy, it won the 2015 Hugo Award for Best Novel. It’s an obvious way in to Liu’s intricate worldbuilding and sweeping narratives; alternatively, Ball Lightning and The Supernova Era are both electrifying stand-alone novels.
