Yang Lian with Brian Holton and Iain Sinclair - World Literature Weekend 2010

'There is no international, only different locals.’

Exiled from China after the Tiananmen Square massacre, dissident poet Yang Lian is now a resident of Stoke Newington and the Lea Valley. His latest collection, Lee Valley Poems, is his first book to be wholly conceived and written in London. He spoke about his work and influences at the London Review Bookshop in conversation with Brian Holton and Iain Sinclair. The trio discussed their shared fascination with locality, landscape and the internal and external geographies we create for ourselves.
