Olivia Laing is a writer and critic. She’s the author of To the River and The Trip to Echo Spring and writes about art and culture for the Guardian, frieze, the New Statesman and the New York Times. Her latest book, The Lonely City, was shortlisted for the 2016 Gordon Burn Prize and the National Book Critics Circle. She’s currently working on Everybody, a book about freedom.
