Our Author of the Month for May is the American poet and professor CAConrad, who has been described as ‘the shamanic cult hero of contemporary queer poetry’. Their work often stems from elaborate ritual writing prompts, ‘Soma(tic) Exercises’, newly created for each work – in the case of CAConrad’s latest, Listen to the Golden Boomerang Return, a ritual focused on fellow animals who have found ways to thrive in the Anthropocene. A good place to start with this vital poet is The Book of Frank, which Thurston Moore has described ‘a contemporary masterpiece’.
