Richard McGuire was in the bookshop to talk about his graphic novel, Here (Hamish Hamilton). A book-length expansion of his groundbreaking 1989 sequence of the same name, Here tells the story of a single place – a nondescript corner of a single room – over a vast historical timespan. Chris Ware has called McGuire ‘a genius, transforming every medium he works within into his own peculiar personal language’.
McGuire was in conversation with artist Dave McKean, author of the multi-award winning graphic novel Cages (Dark Horse Comics), whose multidisciplinary work has seen him collaborate with Neil Gaiman, Grant Morrison, Richard Dawkins and Heston Blumenthal.
Here are some things to enjoy whilst listening to the podcast: A gallery featuring artwork from the book. Benjamin and William Franklin flying kites in a thunderstorm.
