Kaya Genç In Conversation With Maureen Freely - World Literature Series 2012-13

Kaya Genç is a novelist and essayist from Istanbul whose work has been published in The Paris Review Daily, The Guardian, The Financial Times, The London Review of Books blog, and Salon, among other places. He appeared at the shop in conversation with novelist and translator Maureen Freely. The pair discussed how his writing reflects and interacts with literary traditions, as well as Turkish culture, history and politics. Freely describes Genç as: 'One of the most interesting Turkish writers to emerge in recent years. In his essays as well as his fiction, he converses across borders, while forging his own distinct voice and perspective, and challenging dominant narratives.’
