Ramsey Nasr and Ruth Padel - World Literature Weekend 2011

Born 1974 in Rotterdam into a Palestinian-Dutch family, Ramsey Nasr is a man of many passions - classical music, drama, poetry, travel - and he inspires an equally passionate following: as city poet of Antwerp in 2005 his appearances were attended like pop concerts. Nasr came to the London Review Bookshop to celebrate the publication of Heavenly Life, a collection of poems translated by David Colmer, which brought his work to an English-speaking audience for the first time. He spoke in conversation with Oxford Professor of Poetry Ruth Padel, author of collections including Soho Leopard and Darwin: A Life in Poems.
