Inspired by the curiosity and imagination of a thirteen-year-old who loved writing, the annual Martha Mills Young Writers’ Prize gives young people a chance to explore new themes in their writing and to get their work published. The prize, established by the London Review Bookshop, is open to anyone aged eleven to fourteen living in the UK.
The theme for this third year of the prize was ‘An Unlikely Friend’. The stories in the collection were shortlisted for inclusion by the judges, Michael Rosen and Martha’s parents, Merope Mills and Paul Laity.
