Author of the Month: Rebecca Solnit

Our author of the month for September is the writer, walker, activist and thinker Rebecca Solnit, who has been a regular contributor to the pages of the LRB over the last two decades. Perhaps she is most celebrated for her history of walking literature Wanderlust, but Solnit’s many books encompass several genres, from travel writing and memoir to gender theory and biography. However varied their subjects, all of Solnit’s books are marked by an inquisitive intelligence, good humour, and an unshakeable faith in the potential of ordinary people to transform the conditions of their own lives.
