Martin Shaw & Claire Armitstead: s t a g c u l t

Martin Shaw’s ‘Mythteller’ trilogy - The Night WagesCourting the Wild Twin and Smokehole – have won him many fans, including Jay Griffiths, who describes his work as combining ‘a magnificence of soul with a deft acuity of intellect’. A storyteller, mythologist and poet, Shaw’s latest collection, s t a g  c u l t (Hazel Press, 2022) lifts a lantern to a kind of haunting we can’t quite exorcise, or don’t wish to.

Shaw was in conversation with Claire Armitstead, associate culture editor at the Guardian and presenter of their weekly books podcast. She is also the editor of Tales of Two Londons: Stories from a Fractured City (O/R Books).
