Lily Blacksell's Recommendations
We’ve asked some friends of the shop to let us know what they’ve been reading this year. Today it's the turn of poet and ex-LRB bookseller Lily Blacksell.
This summer I read, among other things, Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell and ‘Grace Jones’ by Irenosen Okojie and I thought about famous people popping up in fiction in surprising ways. Here are some recommendations of books I love which are inspired, plagued and populated by various celebrities, named and unnamed, adored and abhorred. Extra special mention to Rachel Genn’s brilliant What You Could Have Won, which has just come out.
